For this children's book project I wanted to focus on the character expressions and color palette. I wanted a variety of dog breeds that would provide interest as well as add a range of color to the illustrations. I chose to lean toward more realistic facial expressions and poses instead of exaggerated features to tell the story. I also created a range of color values so the illustrations didn't feel too heavy.
